What Is Submagic?
Submagic is a caption-first short-form video editor enhancing existing footage with AI captions (98.9% accuracy), B-roll insertion, silence removal, and eye contact correction, automating captions in 48 languages and generating AI-driven B-rolls that boost engagement by over 50%. Pricing runs Free (3 videos/month, watermark, 200MB/90-second cap), Starter at $12-19/month (15 videos/month, up to 2 minutes, removes watermark, 3 AI credits, 1080p/30FPS), Pro at $23-39/month (40 videos/month, up to 5 minutes, 6 AI credits, 2K export, Storyblocks B-rolls, AI hook titles, caption translation, Brand Kit), and Business+API at $41-69/month.
Its claimed time savings — over 10 hours weekly — combined with 98.9% caption accuracy and AI-driven B-roll generation represents genuinely substantial automation of the tedious manual work involved in short-form video editing, specifically addressing the labor-intensive process of transforming long-form footage into engaging vertical clips for platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels.
It's aimed at short-form video creators wanting automated captioning, B-roll insertion, and engagement-boosting effects without manual editing, with the free tier's real 3-videos-per-month allowance providing genuine testing before Starter's $12-19/month removes the watermark and extends video length — Pro's caption translation and 2K export specifically serve creators needing multi-language reach and higher-resolution output.
