What Is Deckset?
Deckset turns plain Markdown notes written in your favorite text editor into polished presentations, available for Mac, iPhone, and iPad, with the iOS app including its own built-in editor for working directly on-device. It remains actively maintained in 2026, with its most recent release continuing to receive positive reviews from educators and professionals who prefer writing presentations as text rather than manually arranging slides in a traditional presentation tool.
Its core appeal is genuinely distinctive from typical AI or drag-and-drop presentation tools: by using Markdown as the source format, users write and version-control their presentation content like code or documentation, then let Deckset handle all visual formatting automatically — a workflow that appeals specifically to writers, developers, and educators already comfortable working in plain text rather than visual slide editors.
It's aimed at writers, educators, and technical presenters who prefer composing presentation content in Markdown and want automatic, clean visual formatting rather than manually designing each slide. See our Productivity tools directory for AI-generated alternatives like Gamma or Decktopus if you'd rather have AI design slides for you.
