What Is Dimensions AI?
Dimensions is a large-scale scientific research database from Digital Science, linking over 124 million documents with free search and citation data across 86 million articles — one of the more comprehensive research discovery platforms available, with core search functionality free at app.dimensions.ai. Advanced features and full licensing require contacting the Dimensions team directly, since detailed 2026 pricing tiers aren't publicly listed.
A notable 2026 development: Digital Science opened an Early Adopter Program in July 2026 for Dimensions Research GPT, its AI-powered analytics product — signaling continued investment in adding generative AI capabilities on top of the existing research database rather than treating Dimensions as a static search tool. That's worth watching for researchers who want AI-assisted analysis layered on top of the comprehensive underlying citation data Dimensions already provides.
It's aimed at researchers, academics, and institutions needing comprehensive access to scientific literature and citation data, with free core search making it broadly accessible while advanced analytics and the new AI-powered Research GPT product require direct engagement with Digital Science.
