What Is Microsoft Designer?
Microsoft Designer is a free AI-powered graphic design app (powered by DALL-E 3) available on web and mobile, offering 15 AI credits/month for free users, while Microsoft 365 subscribers get 60 credits shared with Copilot. There's no standalone Designer-specific paid plan — as of May 2026, the live pricing page doesn't list a self-serve paid option, meaning expanded access comes only through a Microsoft 365 subscription (Personal at $9.99/month, Family at $12.99/month, or Premium at $19.99/month, which unlocks up to 4x more credits and deeper Copilot integration).
Its integration into the broader Microsoft 365 ecosystem is a genuinely practical advantage for existing Microsoft 365 subscribers specifically: rather than paying separately for a design tool, the credits and features are bundled into subscriptions many users already have, with Premium unlocking meaningfully more generation capacity and tighter Copilot integration.
It's aimed at users wanting free or Microsoft 365-bundled AI graphic design, with the complete absence of a standalone Designer-specific paid tier meaning anyone wanting more than the free 15 credits/month must go through a Microsoft 365 subscription rather than a dedicated Designer purchase. The lack of a standalone paid Designer plan means anyone needing more capacity must go through a full Microsoft 365 subscription rather than paying for Designer alone.
