What Is Airbyte?
Airbyte is an open-source data integration and replication platform with a managed cloud. Airbyte's release notes say new Standard pricing took effect on September 23, 2026: $20 a month with 5 credits included and additional credits at $5 each, and the notes describe a new pricing model for the self-serve plans, Standard and Plus. The pricing page lists Plus billed through credit packages, and third-party sites report Plus starting at 40 credits for $189, 100 for $449, 250 for $999, 500 for $1,799, 1,000 for $3,199 and 2,000 for $4,999. Pro and Enterprise Flex are quote-only, billed by Data Workers. Several pages still list Standard at about $10 a month with $2.50 credits and Plus at $25,000 a year, which appear to predate the change.
Credits are consumed per source type: one source says 6 credits per million rows for APIs and custom sources and 4 credits per GB for databases and files. On licensing, one result says the open-source offering, Airbyte Core, is under the Elastic License 2.0, described as source-available rather than OSI-approved, while Cloud uses commercial terms, which I did not verify against the licence text. Core has no licence fee, though one vendor-comparison site estimates $500 to $3,000-plus a month in infrastructure plus 20 to 40 hours of monthly engineering maintenance, a rough figure.
Airbyte suits teams that want connector breadth and a self-host option. Compare Fivetran, dbt and ClickHouse. Browse the Data & Analytics tools directory for more.
