What Is Trigger.dev?
Trigger.dev is an open-source platform for long-running background jobs and AI workflows. Trigger.dev's own pricing page, read directly, shows dollar prices with no currency code. Free is $0 a month with $5 of monthly credits, no card, 20 concurrent runs, five team members and one-day log retention. Hobby is $10 a month with $10 of credits, 50 concurrent runs and seven-day retention, and Pro is $50 a month with $50 of credits, 200-plus concurrent runs at $10 per extra 50, 25-plus members at $20 per extra seat and 30-day retention. Enterprise is custom with SOC 2 and penetration test reports, SSO and RBAC, and a HIPAA BAA add-on is $500 a month. The Free plan stops when its $5 is used, and paid plans bill overage at compute rates.
Compute is billed per second on managed workers, from $0.0000169 per second for a micro machine to $0.00068 per second for a large 2x, with runs at $0.000025 each, $0.25 per 10,000, and dev runs and waiting time not charged. The page says it is built for long-running AI agents and workflows with no maximum run duration by default, works with the Vercel AI SDK and any LLM provider, streams responses and tool calls via Realtime, and has a Python build extension. It says the project is open source under Apache 2.0 with self-hosting docs. All plans are limited to 1,500 API requests a minute, and no funding or dates appeared, though I saw no inactivity signs.
Trigger.dev suits TypeScript developers building agents and long jobs without managing queues. Compare Inngest, Temporal and Hatchet. Browse the AI Agents & Automation tools directory for more.
