What Is Agno?
Agno is a lightweight framework for building multimodal agents and multi-agent systems in Python, with a hosted control plane called AgentOS. Agno's own pricing page says the runtime is free and open source at any scale, and that serving agents costs nothing on any plan, including serving them in ChatGPT and Claude. The paid part is the control plane: Free at $0 a month, Pro at $150 a month with one live AgentOS connection and three team seats (extra seats $30 a month), and a custom Enterprise tier.
Third-party pages muddy this. One site says AgentOS pricing is not public and requires contacting the team, which the official page contradicts. Another describes usage-based pricing on execution time and message throughput, which could not be matched to Agno's own materials. The licence is also reported inconsistently. Most sources say the current agno-agi/agno repo is Apache 2.0, one notes the older phidata repo still carries MPL 2.0, and one says MIT, which looks like an error. Confirm in the GitHub repo before shipping it commercially. The framework was formerly known as Phidata.
Agno suits Python developers who want a fast, minimal framework and are happy to self-host. Compare Pydantic AI, CrewAI and LangGraph. Browse the AI Agents & Automation tools directory for more.
