What Is LiveKit?

LiveKit is real-time audio and video infrastructure used to build voice AI agents. LiveKit's pricing page, now at livekit.com after a redirect from livekit.io, shows monthly plans. Build is $0 with no card and includes 1,000 free agent session minutes a month and inference credits. Ship starts at $50 a month, Scale starts at $500 a month, and Enterprise is custom through sales. Agent session minutes cost $0.0100 per minute after the included minutes, which are 1,000 on Build, 5,000 on Ship and 50,000 on Scale. A pricing calculator example totals $0.0479 per minute, from LLM $0.0014, speech to text $0.0075, text to speech $0.0090 and observability $0.0100, and the page says that is an example and not a fixed price. Inference is billed per minute by model, with Deepgram Nova-3 speech to text at $0.0048 per minute and Cartesia Sonic 3 text to speech at $0.0300, and inference credits are $2.50, $5 and $50 by plan.

Other meters: a US local phone number is $1.00 a month after one free, inbound telephony is $0.01 per minute, WebRTC minutes are $0.0005 per minute after 150,000 included on Ship, and audio turn detection is $0.50 per 1,000 requests. The page notes simulations are free through October 31. One third-party source reports a $100 million Series C at a $1 billion valuation in January 2026, which I could not corroborate, so treat it with caution. Concurrency limits are reported inconsistently across sources, so confirm them on the page. Total cost depends heavily on your STT, LLM and TTS choices.

LiveKit suits developers building voice agents and real-time communication. Compare Hume AI, Deepgram and AssemblyAI. Browse the Speech & Transcription tools directory for more.
