Microsoft Security Copilot

Microsoft Security Copilot is a generative AI assistant for security teams, sold on capacity measured in Security Compute Units. Microsoft's pricing page for it returned a not-found error when I tried to read it, so I could not verify prices directly and the figures below come from third-party licensing guides. Organisations outside E5 can reportedly buy capacity at $4 per SCU-hour, with at least one SCU always provisioned, overage listed at $6 per SCU and a single SCU running 24/7 costing roughly $2,920 a month. For Microsoft 365 E5 customers, the allocation is reported as 400 SCUs a month for every 1,000 user licences, up to 10,000 SCUs a month, with rollout beginning April 20, 2026 and continuing tenant by tenant through June 30, 2026.

Sources disagree on overage: one says it is throttled and not billed, while another says Microsoft plans pay-as-you-go overage at $6 per SCU with 30 days' notice, not yet active for E5 inclusion. E5 itself is reported to rise from $57 to $60 per user per month from July 1, 2026. One guide notes that under E5 inclusion the same workload might deduct only 3.5 SCUs from the monthly pool because usage is metered rather than reserved, and another reports it is not available for US government cloud customers. Confirm everything with Microsoft or a licensing partner before budgeting.
