What Is Palo Alto Cortex?
Palo Alto Cortex is Palo Alto Networks' security operations platform, spanning XSIAM, XDR and the newer AgentiX AI agents. Palo Alto does not publish list prices for Cortex XSIAM or Cortex XDR, and everything goes through a sales quote, so I did not check an official price page. A 2026 SIEM comparison describes XSIAM pricing as negotiated per deal rather than a rate card. A reseller-oriented guide gives unverified benchmarks of about $81 to $120 per endpoint per year for XDR Pro, $48 to $72 for XDR Prevent, and about $11,000 per terabyte per year for Cortex Data Lake. A Forrester study modelling a 10,000-endpoint organisation is commissioned by Palo Alto, so it is not a price sheet.
On AI, a launch announcement said Cortex AgentiX is available in Cortex Cloud and Cortex XSIAM, with XDR and standalone AgentiX expected in early 2026, and one 2026 review says XDR 5.0 introduced AgentiX agents for autonomous investigation and response. A competitor's comparison, from D3 Security which has a stake, says AgentiX is licensed per user with compute units and that agent and LLM usage does not consume compute units at this time, which I could not confirm. Customer feedback says costs rise quickly with data ingestion volume. I found nothing on CyberArk-related pricing or integration.
Cortex suits large security teams consolidating SIEM, XDR and automation onto one platform. Compare CrowdStrike Falcon, SentinelOne and Google Security Operations. Browse the Cybersecurity tools directory for more.
