What Is Stripe Atlas?

Stripe Atlas is a company incorporation service for startups. Third-party sources say the $500 one-time fee covers Delaware C-corp formation, Delaware state filing fees with expedited processing, the EIN, founder stock paperwork and a US bank account setup. Incorporation takes about one to two business days, an EIN arrives in one to three business days with a US SSN or fifteen to forty-five without one, and one source says Stripe now files the 83(b) election with the IRS automatically. The fee also includes the first year of registered agent service and a US Stripe account so you can accept payments.

Ongoing costs matter. Registered agent service renews at $100 a year after the first year, and Delaware franchise tax is not included, with one source putting the minimum near $300 a year. Atlas is Delaware only, per its pricing page. One source reports an optional ongoing compliance package around $500 a year, which was not confirmed elsewhere. Most of these figures come from blogs, some by competitors such as Rho and doola, and I did not check Stripe's own page, so verify current terms before paying.

Stripe Atlas suits founders, including international ones, who want a fast, standard US company. Compare Clerky, LegalZoom and Cooley GO. Browse the Legal tools directory for more.
