What Is Looker?

Looker is Google Cloud's business intelligence and data platform. Its core price is mostly quote-based, though one analysis (Mammoth) says Google's price list shows the Standard edition at $5,000 a month, about $60,000 a year, including 10 Standard and 2 Developer users, with extra licences at $30 (Viewer), $60 (Standard) and $125 (Developer). Enterprise and Embed are quote-only, and the database Looker queries is billed separately. Google's own page could not be reached.

Other sources conflict. Toucan cites AWS Marketplace prices of $66,600 a year for the Standard Platform, $132,000 for Advanced and $198,000 for Elite, while Lets-viz gives $5,000 to $10,000 a year for Standard, which looks inconsistent. Vendr's analysis of 355 deals puts the average annual cost at $150,000, with some organisations paying over $1.77 million. Gemini in Looker (Conversational Analytics) is billed on usage on top of the subscription, one source giving $3 per 1M input tokens and $20 per 1M output tokens, with another saying the overage applies from October 1, 2026 after an included allocation and that no overage is enforced during the promotional period.

Do not confuse Looker with Looker Studio, the free tool formerly Data Studio, whose Pro tier is about $9 per user per Google Cloud project per month at list. Looker suits governed, model-driven BI on Google Cloud. Compare Tableau, Power BI and Metabase. Browse the Data & Analytics tools directory for more.
