What Is Twilio Flex?
Twilio Flex is a programmable contact center platform with AI features such as Agent Copilot. Twilio's own pricing page, which says pricing is current as of August 2026, lists three models. Active user hour pricing starts at $1 per active user hour, and Twilio says it does not charge for users who have not logged in. Named user pricing starts at $150 per named user per month, charged for the maximum named users in a month. User plus usage starts at $35 per monthly active user, for Flex on an existing Twilio account. New Flex accounts get 5,000 free active user hours. Agent Copilot, a public beta add-on, costs $0.035 per minute for voice and $0.005 per message for digital channels, with prices subject to change and professional services possibly required. The page does not state monthly versus annual.
The FAQ says WhatsApp session messages are included while template messages are charged separately, and third-party sources add that there are no free quotas, so Conversations, TaskRouter, Studio and Functions are charged by usage. They cite voice around $0.014 a minute and SMS about $0.008 a message in the US, which vary by country. I found no end-of-life or deprecation notice for Flex. Because the platform is programmable, total cost includes engineering time to build and maintain flows, which can exceed licence fees for small teams.
Twilio Flex suits teams with developers who want a customisable contact centre rather than an off-the-shelf one. Compare Five9, Parloa and Replicant. Browse the Customer Support tools directory for more.
